This world is a battlefield, and we need to be warriors!
Our world is a Battlefield! We need to fight for Jesus and suit up with the armor of Christ daily. Just as Ephesians 6:13 says, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand firm.” First, we must look to God in all we do. Then we must be ready to step onto that battlefield. Finally we are called to withstand the hardships of the Evil one. WARNING: If you are standing on the sidelines… the devil already has you in his pocket.
For us, Sunday mornings were getting more and more difficult to get to Mass. The mornings were chaotic! We had to get the kids fed and dressed, the diaper bag packed, and the dog had to be taken care of. My husband and I were getting tired of the frustration! We lacked the patience to get to church. Until one Sunday morning, it dawned on us…
THIS was spiritual warfare!!
The devil was trying to keep us frustrated enough to be upset with each other and our children. He did not want us to get to Mass so he made it too hectic . Once we acknowledged what the issue was, we said a prayer asking for God’s help, and let me tell you, it was the BEST Sunday Mass we have ever had!
To be strong faithful stewards for Christ, we can use this armor daily, but also, we need to have childlike faith. The innocent, pure faith that God wants us to have. This is not an easy feat, putting our own will aside and trusting God wholeheartedly. Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:4, “whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” We need to listen to the voice in our head that is leading us to the truth of God. Not the lies of the devil. God wants us to see happy and joyful moments that come with suffering, not misery and anger.
As Catholics, we need to embrace the Holy Spirit within us and acknowledge the spiritual warfare against us. We must remember, the closer the relationship we have with God, the devil fights that much harder for you to turn away from God. The spiritual warfare that happens daily to each of us can be taxing and overwhelming. But if we have our armor on and remind ourselves that we are children of God, we can be ready for anything.
I ask you now, “Are you ready to suit up in the armor of God and bestow your faith like a child?”
