Friday Feedback 5

From D. and J.

It is really awesome that you guys take the time to help couples like us! You are truly a blessing!

What is your overall impression of this prep?
HIM: This course turned out to be a lot better than I had expected. As you can imagine, I wasn’t too excited about doing worksheets over the course of weeks on top of everything else we have been doing, but I am actually glad we had to do this. You guys were really helpful.
HER: To be completely honest, I really enjoy this course. It made us sit down and work together to discuss important aspects of our relationship. It allowed us time to sit back and talk about us, in the midst of all the other planning! I feel that we are better prepared to enter into this marriage with going through the worksheets in this course.
Did it meet your expectations?
HIM: Yes, I feel that I have had a little stronger relationship with God than J. has and this course helped to get us on the same page.
HER: Yes, this course definitely met my expectation! I did not know what to expect, but feel that this course brought up a lot of important topics that we need to discuss and brought up topics that I wouldn’t have thought of.
What did you appreciate most and why?
HIM: I appreciated being “forced” for lack of a better word, to sit down with J. and talk about our future and what we see in it. It helped us to be really honest and upfront about a lot of different things and I think we have grown closer through this process.
HER: I appreciated the feedback the most. We didn’t always know the answers, but tried our best to discuss and come up with reasonable answers and your responses and feedback really helped us gain an understanding of all of these topics throughout the course of this class. It was nice to be able to try to come up with an answer, that maybe wasn’t even close to correct, and get such kind feedback that lead us to dig a little deeper and think a little more! Your feedback was greatly appreciated!
How did the course revive – or not – your faith?
HIM: As I mentioned, I feel I have had a stronger relationship with God than J. has, which is not a bad thing, but it has slipped over the past years as life has just been crazy. But this course helped me to reignite my desire to have such a strong relationship with God and to take J. along with me on that journey.
HER: This course really made it clear how important it is to center our relationship around God and his teachings. I hadn’t done much reading from the bible and it was fun to read some different verses and break them down. They helped me to realize that the bible is something that should not be intimidating, but now I feel I can understand and appreciate the readings more. With all that being said, it just really ignited my desire to center our relationship around God and build our faith together.
Your communication through the course: We feel that we had really good communication about life topics prior to this course, but hadn’t really done much communicating about our faith and relationships with God. This course allowed us to communicate about our faith and relationship with God and in turn brought up new conversation about how other aspects of our relationship that we felt we knew all about, could use some rethinking when we put God first.
Comments: We just want to thank you so much for your patience and guidance along this journey. As I said before, we hadn’t really talked much about our relationships with God and that most likely affected our work on these worksheets. We have a lot to learn yet, but you really helped us get started on the right path. You guys were great and we think it is really awesome that you guys take the time to help couples like us! You are truly a blessing! Thank you both!

I was born and raised in Burgundy, France. Good wine and good food reign, but the the region is also deeply rooted in Christianity. The number of beautiful roman churches and chapels is amazing. I am number four of five kids: three girls and two boys. I was raised in a practicing Catholic family. I married Christian in 1977 in Burgundy in an 11th century church. We have five beautiful daughters. Two of them still live in France and three are in the US with us. Our two eldest daughters are married, one in Denver, one in France, and each have five children so far. Our third daughter is currently expecting her first baby. After fifteen years in the Catholic Community of the Beatitudes, we dedicated ourselves to the ministry towards the engaged. We have been the Directors of the Office of Marriage and Family Life for the Diocese of Colorado Springs since 2005. We became American citizens in 2010 and now have dual citizenship: French and American. I love to take pictures and to scrapbook, I love drawing and crafts (salt-dough is my best!), hiking and gardening. I am the computer geek for our organization.
