Friday Feedback 4

by | Jul 26, 2013 | Friday Feedback

From I. and K.

The class was fantastic and actually surprised me how fun many of the exercises were. I thought that maybe the class would be a review of what I learned throughout Catholic school growing up, but I learned a lot of information concerning marriage and also learned different techniques on how to maintain a healthy and strong marriage.

What is your overall impression of this prep?
Him:
I feel this class brought me back to my years as a youth in school. We learned about our Sacraments and why they were are so important in life. Although there were a few worksheets that were very extensive, all the material was worth the time it took to read it. Our instructors both provided such great feedback and their personal stories made the teachings even that more interesting and easy to comprehend.
Her: As a non-Catholic, I feel that this course prepared me for marriage and gave me a very clear understanding of my role as a wife and also how Imo and I are to protect our marriage. Your feedback was very interesting and helpful and I really enjoyed all of the videos and personal stories. This course made me feel that with God, Imo and I can conquer anything.

Did it meet your expectations?
Him: The class was fantastic and actually surprised me how fun many of the exercises were. I thought that maybe the class would be a review of what I learned throughout Catholic school growing up, but I learned a lot of information concerning marriage and also learned different techniques on how to

maintain a healthy and strong marriage.
Her: The class not only met my expectations, it exceeded them. Having no background in the Catholic faith, I entered this class with an open mind and learned important lessons in marriage and life.

What did you appreciate most and why?
Him:
I appreciated the worksheet concerning communication through active listening and I-Messages. These were creative and informative ways to make sure we appreciate each others’ concerns and address them in the correct way. Also, we learned how to express ourselves without putting the other down in the process.
Her: The most valuable information I received from the course was the part regarding NFP. I appreciated the ideals of Dr. Janet Smith and how people in today’s society misunderstand how contraception can relieve someone of stress and responsibility and abuse and misuse God’s gift for us to become one with another.

How did the course revive – or not – your faith?
Him:
I definitely believe I have revitalized my relationship with God and want to continue to appreciate His importance in our lives. Since my spouse isn’t Catholic, it is my duty to introduce her to the church and she is excited about choosing a Parish to call our own.
Her: My desire to be closer to God has definitely been revived through the course. I have learned so much about how God wants us to live our lives in the Catholic faith and am yearning to learn more. By going to Church with Imo at a Parish of our choice, I believe I will be taking the first steps to allow God to re-enter my life in the Catholic sense.

Comments: We are thankful that you decided to accept us for your course and are very appreciative for the vast knowledge you have provided throughout. The course was also filled with various activities that made it enjoyable to complete. We will cherish the ideas we learned and practice them for the rest of our lives so we are very grateful that the course was so well put together.

I was born and raised in Burgundy, France. Good wine and good food reign, but the the region is also deeply rooted in Christianity. The number of beautiful roman churches and chapels is amazing. I am number four of five kids: three girls and two boys. I was raised in a practicing Catholic family. I married Christian in 1977 in Burgundy in an 11th century church. We have five beautiful daughters. Two of them still live in France and three are in the US with us. Our two eldest daughters are married, one in Denver, one in France, and each have five children so far. Our third daughter is currently expecting her first baby. After fifteen years in the Catholic Community of the Beatitudes, we dedicated ourselves to the ministry towards the engaged. We have been the Directors of the Office of Marriage and Family Life for the Diocese of Colorado Springs since 2005. We became American citizens in 2010 and now have dual citizenship: French and American. I love to take pictures and to scrapbook, I love drawing and crafts (salt-dough is my best!), hiking and gardening. I am the computer geek for our organization.
