Before the Viral Wedding

Some couples meet on dating apps. Others meet through friends.

Agape Catholic Ministries’ couple, Dan and Eva? They met in swim lessons.

Long before wedding bells, before viral headlines, and before firefighters unexpectedly joined their wedding photos, Dan and Eva were just two kids growing up in the same town.

They officially met in 8th grade when Daniel transferred to Eva’s school. Through high school, there were mutual crushes, familiar glances, and the kind of story that seems destined for romance.

They finally dated during the last few months of senior year.

Then, just two days before leaving for the same college, they broke up.

When Love Waits

At Hillsdale College, avoiding each other wasn’t exactly easy. They were two of only twelve philosophy majors.

After graduation, life pulled them in different directions.

Daniel headed to law school in Arizona. Eva returned to Colorado Springs to teach fifth grade-at the very school they had attended growing up!

Then came an unexpected twist.

Eva ended up teaching one of Dan’s younger sisters, who spoke so highly of her brother that Eva began wondering… what if?

During winter break, they reunited at a high school gathering. They stayed up late talking philosophy and theology.

The next day, Dan asked Eva out on a date.

After that first date, both of them knew something had changed.

“We were pretty confident we were supposed to be together.”

Fast Forward to Forever

One year later, they were married.

They dated for six months, were engaged for six months, and were more than ready to begin their life together.

While planning their wedding, they also wanted to prepare for something even bigger than the event itself: the sacrament of marriage.

That’s where Agape Catholic Ministries came in.

The Wedding Exit Nobody Could Have Planned

At their wedding Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral, incense filled the church in celebration.

Then the fire alarms went off.

Loudly.

Suddenly, what should have been a peaceful post-Mass moment became unforgettable chaos.

But if you’ve seen the now-viral photos and videos, one thing stands out:

They were calm. Joyful. Smiling.

“We were just so happy to be married,” they shared. “We knew it was all going to be okay.”

Soon, firefighters arrived, helped resolve the situation, and even posed for photos with the newlyweds.

A stressful moment became a treasured memory.

And the internet loved it!

Funny wedding moments come and go. What lasts is what prepared Dan and Eva to respond with joy, steadiness, and peace in an unexpected moment.
